1.- Korean Patent Application Requirements

1. Name and address of the applicant. If it is a Company, place of incorporation.
2. Name, address and citizenship of the Inventor(s).
3. Invention Title, Abstract of the Invention or Design.
4. Invention specifications / description.
5. Patent Claims.
6. Formal Drawings.
7. Korean translation of the specification is required.
8. Declaration of Inventors which does not need to be notarized.
9. Certified copy of the priority application together with its Korean translation to be filed within 16 months of the first application.
10. Power of Attorney

Patents in Korea

A Korean Patent is effective for a term of: 20 years (from the filing date).

The Utility Models are effective for a term of 10 years

Design Protection Time: 15 years.

Member of the Paris Convention: Yes

Member of the PCT: Yes.

Korean Patent Office: Korean Industrial Property Office (KIPO).

4. Publication of application: 18 months from the filing date or first priority date "Patent Laid-open Gazette. (The laid-open publication may be made, upon the request of the applicant, prior to the 18 month period. This will provide an earlier protection to a patent application which is being infringed)
