Filling Timelines
The time limit for local patent applications claiming priority is 12 months. Restoration of this term is possible within 2 months after the expired deadline.
The term for filing a design application claiming conventional priority in Ireland is 6 months from the priority date. This term is non-extendable.

Examination
A Search Report must be requested within twenty-one months from the filing date of the application or the priority date.
A design application filed in the Irish Patent Office undergoes formal examination only. There is no need to request this examination.
Granting
Official fees for the granting and publication of the patent should be paid within 4 months from the date when Notice of Allowance was issued.
A design patent is valid for 5 years from the date of registration. The 5-year term may be extended for 4 further periods of 5 years each if a request is provided and the corresponding fee is paid.
